Revisiting Gettin' Up Morning's First Big Race

Last night I threw on the fourth episode just to watch this scene.

It's such a tremendously moving moment that -- even out of context -- it brought real tears to my eyes. The characters are so transfixed by the beauty of what they're seeing, the actors (Nolte of course, but Dunn sells it too) are brilliant in close-up, the racing footage itself is breathtaking, and the use of Richter's "On the Nature of Daylight" is simply lovely.

Miss this show. Suppose it had to be cancelled, all things considered; animals have died for a hell of a lot less though.
