Kevin Bacon Joins Cuba Gooding Jr. + Christian Slater

It's sad to see such talent wasted. These guys are all rich but I guess they have mortgages and mouths to feed. That said, I'm still surprised to see Kevin Bacon in a piece of filth like this.

Hey,after Death Sentence it might have been all he could get...

reply

death sentence wasn't a bad flick so i don't know what you're trying to say?

But what about Kevin Bacon day on Newgrounds?

"Too bad you can't reload your game and try again." Cassidy- Fallout 2

I said the same thing. Great actors that didn't go down a hill at all they just sort of leaped from the A list to the D list overnight. How in the hell can Kevin Bacon do such a pile of *beep* like this?!??!

Time's changing.
Who go to cinemas? Crazy teens to watch teen movies.
Just take a look at the most popular movies/tv series, animated things, comedies and vampires/young wizards/pirates.
"Old" artists have no more place these days and not because they suck or anything, it's just because box offices are filled with new type of people.
There used to be days where putting Harrison Ford, Michael Douglas or Bruce Willis meant instant success, not anymore, now you have to have young good looking people to have screaming/hair tearing kids lining up at cinemas, even if many of these so called "artists" really suck.

Space for rent.

While the film "Elephant White" certainly has it's flaws, I thought Bacon was great in it. His part was well written and I thought he pulled off the accent well. Bacon can afford to be choosey about which projects he picks, which is why you can find him in both blockbusters, and limited release movies. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Christian Slater on the other hand, just take whatever is thrown their way.

You can't be serious..

You forgot to include Steven Seagal and Val Kilmer :D

I always saw Kevin Bacon in the same area as Ethan Hawke. They star in the movies they want to star in. Because of the subject manner, the co-stars, the director, the story... or whatever else. But never about the paycheck. Him being in this movie was never about "Oh this is the best I can get" It's I want to be apart of this.

reply

Kevin Bacon, is fine. He will be starring in X-men First Class. Not all movies these days end up in the theaters.

One direct-to-DVD flick doesn't mean it's all over for Kevin Bacon, he has some big and interesting projects on the horizon. Christian Slater was pretty much always a B-actor, with occasional supporting roles in A-material. Cuba Gooding, Jr. was somewhat over rated, and seemed to always be picking bad projects, even before the DTD era. Bacon is a different story, and I highly doubt after X-men and Crazy Stupid Love he'll be back to this kind of garbage.

reply

Yeah this movie certainly isn't on the level of The Devils Tomb or Alone in the Dark.

reply

Christian Slater was top billed over Kevin Bacon in a movie back in 1995 that was most certanitly not a b film, and plenty more of those prior to 2005. He's just one of those actors who made a risky move and had to suffer for it.
Don't forget True Romance, top billed over an all star cast.

Didn't KB lose a bunch of money in the Bernie Madoff scam? I'm sure he is doing alright, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting to get some more cash coming in if he really did lose a lot of money.

reply

He's pretty far from being the next Cuba Gooding jr or Christian Slater, he was just in X Men which was a huge blockbuster and now he's in Crazy Stupid Love which is also a big movie.

reply

Yes Kevin Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgewick lost MASSIVE amounts of money in ther Madoff scam. Nice to see there are some educated people on these forums. Bacon hasn't been in the limelight in a long time, so if he needs to do some low budget movies to make some cash more power to him. At least he cares enough about his family to try and support them and do work that he might not deem worthy otherwise.

Bacon and wife lost a lot of money to Berny Madoff. Gotta make it up somehow. Too bad it has to be in public.
