Inspired by ''Love aaj kal' ??

The theme is once again about maintaining long distance relationships and keeping career as a more important priority. The only original element I notice about the movie is that the female character wants to continue with having a relationship but marriage is not something that she wants to consider at such a early stage.

reply

what inspired Deepika to do another movie like this?

Imran Khan, perhaps?!

reply

She'll do any movie that comes her way. I don't blame her. If one wants to stay at the top of the league, you have to do everything. But she will have to stay careful to not do bad movies.
But I don't think she is dating Imran. But I liked 'love aaj kal'. The story was different.

reply

I liked 'love aaj kal' also and 'housefull' was entertaining although some people disliked it because of Akshay!

reply

I thought 'houseful' was okay. The movie seemed a little too long. The bathtub scene could have been very hilarious but they wasted the opportunity. But Lara and deepika were good. Check out 'pyar ke side effects'. It is more on the intelligent side of comedy.

reply

I've only heard of that movie so I will check it out! thanks for the suggestion!

also I love 'Dostana'. I cannot wait for 'Dostana 2'!

reply

this movie was truly aweful!...same trash with different actors doesnt make a new movie. also whats up with the STUPID comedies coming out at the moment..the new one from Anil Kapoor directed by Aneez Bazmee(spelling?) and the new one from Govinda..enough said!

reply

It's fantastic, very funny too. It may be better than break ke baad. How big was shahana goswami's role ?. The girl with darker complexion.

Dostana was good too. But I didn't think Bobby Deol was needed in the movie.

reply

People love to laugh! And the quality of a comedy depends on it's material. I really tend to hate the action comedies, they are overdone and kiddish!

I've been looking foward to see Anil Kapoor's 'No Problem'.

reply

Yes I agree. There are a few good comedies out there that are genuinely funny. 'Raat gayi baat gayi' was excellent. It was intelligent comedy. It didn't do stupid things to make one laugh. Another one was 'Mumbai matinee'. That was good too. I have both on dvd. The two movie really stand out from the rest of the crap.

I'm not too sure about 'No problem'. I can only hope it can be fun to watch.

reply

It is never fun, having the script thrown at your face, but pressing on the joke like "haha, laugh now!"...I tend to laugh at random things going on in the movie! As for 'No Problem', it happens to look promising! I gained interest, because I recognized an actress in the movie, but the songs are great too!

For US released DVDs, I know the wait is 4 months from when the movie stops showing in the cinemas..but for Bollywood, how long does it take for the movie to release? I've seen some of 'Break Ke Baad'..but the cam version wasn't too good so I shut it off.

reply

I just noticed there are 3 actresses in the movie. Are you referring to Neetu Chandra ?. Kangana and Sushmita are there too. But for movies to release on dvd can take from to 2 to 6 months. But it also depends on how much it has made at the box office.

reply

I'm sure it's Sushmita Sen. I am not for certain because I only seen the actress' movies when I was younger. Her face brought back good memories from my childhood.

reply

Yes that is Sushmita Sen. She is looking good for her age. She is quiet intelligent too and a good actress. Since 2006 she hasn't had many releases. I don't know why. She like totally disapeared off the radar. But it is good to see her back.

reply

Thank you, as I was not sure if it was her I remember, but I am sure now. As with Kajol!

reply

What do you think of 'Kajol' ?. She seems to be doing the right movies. Not a bad comeback.

reply

I think Kajol is great, even authentic in her acting. She's a natural. I liked her in 'We are family' Also, in 'My name is Khan' It is too bad I have yet to see her 'Koch Koch Hota Hai' only because I cannot find the movie to watch it! I think I will have to buy it online! I was able to find 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' and will watch it soon.

All that said, who is your favortie Bollywood actress(es) and actor(s)?
I am still learning all of these new star! Wow, the Kapoors are everywhere..it's confusing because some of the Kapoors act together in movies, and alot of related and such...and I guess some aren't because they play love interests in movies! I would be freaked if I had to work beside another with my last name, because after time you may end up with an unknown relative or even he kissed her and then you kissed him sort of thing!

reply

Kajol is a good actress. But she is a mother now and certainly isn't looking hot as she used to be. But it is good to see that mums of Bollywood are still getting roles. Juhi Chawla too has been doing better movies after she got married. Check out 'jhankar beats'. It's a fantastic movie. Its in hindi and english mixed together. I have a review on it.

Kapoors are everywhere indeed. There are too many. Their future generations are all getting in to movies. It has been going on from decade to decade. I found it strange too when a kapoor married a kapoor. I assume it is legit in their caste system. I even saw a shetty dancing witha shetty in another movie.

My favourite actresses in Bollywood would have to be Genelia D Souza, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone. Not forgetting Rani Mukerjee. But I also like Jennifer Lopez and Jordana Brewster.
Bollywood actors are Nana Patekar, Saif ali khan and KK Menon. But I also like Sean Penn and Christpher Walken and Vin Diesel.

reply

For me, the Hollywood actors I like are Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro, Michael Douglas, Al Pachino, Tom Hanks (defintely!), even, John Cusak and Adrien Brody! Basically every actor that made the 80's-90's hit films! As for actresses, Anne Hathaway, Rachel McAdams, Demi Moore, Gwenyth Paltrow, Whoopi Goldberg, Halle Berry, ect.!

As for the Bollywood actors we like the same, but I'd have to add Irrfan Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor! And I love Sharmila Tagore (old Bollywood actress!), Tannishtha Chatterjee!

I just found another movie, 'Chehraa' from 2005 with Irrfan Khan, I'd like to watch, hopefully I can either find it on online, or for rent!

reply

Yes Denzel Washington is a good actor. He doesn't overact, which is good. I liked him in 'out of time'. Anne Hathaway is good too. She is gaining a lot of potential, I saw her in the 'devil wears prada'. I think irfan khan is a fantastic actor. From his first movie 'Gunahh' he proved he had the ability to play a villain. He was funny as well as being scary as the corrupt cop.

I like Halle Berry very much. She is very versatile. I liked her in 'gothika' and 'swordfish'. The movie chehra is okay. But there is a twist in the climax. It reminded me of Hitchcock's movies.

reply

I watched some of 'Chehra' and did not finish it, only because I'm in the middle of watching a movie, but I was just trying it out. It seems okay, and I love Hitchcock movies, so that gives me hope. And hopefully I will finish it. I'm getting around to watching movies I've wanted to see for awhile.

I am wanting to see the new movie 'Black Swan'..it seems like a Hitchcock movie too. It is already getting Oscar buzz.

reply

Do watch it if you get the opportunity. 'Black swan' looks good. It reminds me of the movie 'showgirls' which starred gina gershon. Is it similar ?.

reply

I have not seen 'showgirls' but I've seen a few movies with Gina Gershon: one being 'Bound' with Jennifer Tilly. You should check it out if you haven't seen it!

reply

Yes I've seen 'Bound'. It's a awesome movie. The whole setting and camera angles were very stylish. I wished the wachowski brothers had continued with that genre. When did you first it ?.

reply

I cant stand these repetitive storylines, be it I hate Luv Storys, Break ke Baad or Love Aaj Kaal! "trying" to be so ultra cool and modern, they just fall way below par in my opinion.

reply

I agree. Overall there are way too many of these films. And it's completely predictable, from him being clingy and emotional, to her being spontaneous, and even the part where they get married. We all guessed that the wedding was actually for the two of them, which most people would get. They would at least know that the two main characters would end up together by the end.

I want to see more thoughtful, realistic films where the couple does not live happily-ever-after, but it seems that Bollywood audience (and related film industries) still can't handle it.
