I loved it...

It had it's share of problems but if you can stand the vertigo this games kicks all sorts of ass.

The controls are a little hard to get used to but still not to bad.

I've waited about 1 year, 2 months for this to appear on this site and thank God it did.

Is there anybody who has a love for this game like me? (Also, can anybody name any other games that have a first-person perspective quite like this one does?)

reply

I love the game, too. I recently started playing for the first time, and I'm on stage 5 currently. It's getting really difficult now! Wow.

If you have an original Xbox, check out a game called 'Breakdown'. It's rare and hard to find, so look for it online. It's almost identical to Mirror's Edge in terms of gameplay and perspective. Actually, I think the designers got a lot of their inspiration from this game, although I've never heard anyone credit it. It's also an excellent and unique gaming experience and was ahead of it's time. Unfortunately, no one knew much about it when it was released. Definitely worth a look, though. =-)

A friend of mine happens to have 'Breakdown' and I saw him play it a bit.I thought 'Breakdown' was cool looking but it looked a little dated overall.

My friend found his copy used for 5 bucks. If it's rare like you say 'mistamajestyk' then i'll be sure to tell my friend not to get rid of it.

I would say that 'Mirror's Edge' has faster movements and more intense action overall but maybe that's just me. Thanks for the love for 'Mirror's Edge'. We need more people to love underappreciated gems like this.

I agree. 'Breakdown' is a bit dated, and it follows more of a traditional first-person shooter mentality. 'Mirror's Edge' reminds me of a totally immersive version of the old school platformers from the 8-bit Nintendo and Sega days.

I really enjoyed it, as well. I'm glad I waited so long to play it, because I grabbed it at GameStop for under $20. It's defanitely worth it at that price.

Plus, Mirror's Edge has one of my top 5 ending theme songs EVER.

I would say my only gripe with the game is the level of frustration and difficulty in some parts of the later portions, and if I remember correctly, this was something that people seemed to agree on when the game was first released. The amount of trial and error is very high, and I find myself sometimes dying 20-30 times just to get past a SWAT team, which definitely isn't fun!

I died about 10-15 times on that SWAT team part so I know what you mean.

I gave this game a 9 for exactly those reasons (trial and error). I think the cutscenes could have been animated a bit better as well. The ending was OK but not great.

Overall I've hated trial and error in other games much more than this.

If your talking about that 'Still Alive' song I would agree that it's one of the best songs around.

What I find hilarious is after the game 'Portal' during the end credits there is a song called 'Still Alive' as well. Good song but totally different from the 'Mirror's Edge' song.

This is an awesome game I just got it a couple of days ago and it is one of my top 5 favorite games. I love to free run so this game is like perfect.

I actually created the entry for Mirror's Edge because I was frustrated it was missing from my video games lists in My Movies. When an entry doesn't exist you can ask for it to be created. There are some steps to go through (http://www.imdb.com/updates?update=title";), then you submit it and IMDb approves it or not.

I also love the game, though I haven't finished it yet.

Thanks Lempea, for creating the entry for this game.

If I have any other problems with games not being on this site I will heed your advice and submit it to IMDb.

reply

Don't hesitate to do so! ;-)

Just played it for the first time.Trial and error just doesn't cut it for me,Not as dissapointed as when i played the first assassin's creed so maybe they'll get it right with the sequel.

The thing that was missing from this game is the ability to sneak around your enemy,or run and jump around them whatever.the AI is pretty much hive mind(when one knows where you are all do) which we should be moved past by now.

The lack of knowing where your supposed to go some of the time was also took away from what a free running experience should be,also the controls were only so so.

Story wise eh...

reply

You can run and jump around them, and when you don't know where to go there is a key that will direct the view on the right spot... And indeed the storyline is not mind-blowing.

Nice!

This game is awesome and really doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I'm deeply in love with this game and have been ever since I first played the demo. I then of course pre-ordered it and got it at its release date. I just love that cozy feeling you get when you play it at night when it's dark outside, while sitting in the sofa under a blanket all by yourself.

I mean, the unique graphics with the combination of its specific color schemes in light green, red and sky-blue, the soundtrack that provokes your emotions exactly to the right extent every time, that special feeling the game touches you with in general... utter perfection! I can't wait for the sequel...
