Eyes Closed?

Just started watching this and came here to see what others thought of it. Anyway, I'm only about 20 minutes into it, so I'll withhold final judgement.

What I thought was weird, though, was having her close her eyes all the way out to the house. And she complied! Who does that? Wouldn't you peek? So what if she knew they were driving all the way out to "bum f* Egypt" as she said? She still wouldn't know what was going on. He could have just driven up and then said, "Surprise! It's yours! Happy Birthday!"
