I'm so depressed right now...

OK, I'll be honest, I haven't even seen this movie yet. No clue if it's good or bad. No, the reason I'm so depressed is the fact that this movie exists at all in this form. Y'see, I thought Mirrors was an awesome movie, --I even bought the special edition DVD--, and have been desperately hoping they'd make a sequel to continue Carson's story as he tries to find a way home. And now, two years later, I suddenly see "Mirrors 2" listed, and I get all excited, only to pull-up the page and see that it not only doesn't feature any of the same cast (much less, y'know, the star), but it also wasn't written by any of the same writers, nor is it directed by the same director.

So, good luck with this flick. Hope it does well, but... just... damn!

Doing it this way saves a lot of money, that's really what it's about more than quality or cohesion of film and story these days when it comes to Hollywood.

if i were you, i would start by watching Into the Mirror (the asian one). It's way better than the garbage with Kiefer Sutherland in it. So i wouldn't worry about who wrote the second one, because the first one is a rip off anyway. If anything, the second one should automatically be considered better just for having some originality (though it's a borrowed plot)

btw, most sequels that go straight to DVD have a pretty new cast aside from a side character or two.

I really liked the first film too and was initially disappointed it was a direct to DVD sequel but give it a watch. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It has a lot of the elements that made the first film good, just on a lower budget.

This movie wasn't exactly that successful for Kiefer wanting to return. Plus why are you disappointed the original cast is not in it? There were very few other cast in the movie plus half of them died in the movie anyways.

reply

Oh yeah. It was totally "borrowed"...

The 1st one I'd like A follow up story on. Not like this! New cast, new caracters, new director and new writer.. That's A BIG NO from me. I really liked Kiefer Sutherland as Ben Carson! It would be A nice twist if we could have Ben Carson escape from "Mirror World". Ben Carson R O C K ! ! !

I'm not accepting this as A true sequel.

Okey.. I don't think the 1st one was to greate at all but atleast I find it memorable. Hinting to *jaw rip scene*.

How can you say Mirrors 2 should be automatically considered better for having some originality? It's the ONLY one that isn't original!

Into The Mirror is 100% original because it started all this.

Mirrors 1 is 75% original because they took some aspects of Into The Mirror, but changed it around, insane asylum, nun in the covenent, evil dead-ish corny boss battle, etc.

Mirrors 2 is only like 20% original. It's basically just Into The Mirror, minis parts [like the cool 'trapped in the mirror' ending] of Into The Mirror that were already used in Mirrors 1.

If anything, Mirrors 2 is the least original of all 3 movies.

lol I've got to agree, and yes I did laugh out loud because I truly do agree, the first movie was pretty forgettable.

IN THE END THERE WILL BE ONLY CHAOS

reply

It's not a whole new plot. It's just the plot of Into The Mirror.
