Of course, I read somewhere that the upcoming video game will not be considered canon, so with that in mind, a separate MMORPG seems that it would have lots of flexibility in adding weapons and program classes. Thoughts?

I must confess that when watching the movie, the first time we see the Grid, I was wishing it would be made into an MMORPG, so I might explore it and interact with other users ... errr, players.

they reference this game in the movie so it is kinda hard for it to NOT be canon. but if that is what they said then oh well. the game takes place shortly after the first movie and just after the prologue of the 2nd movie.
