Question about the Collector's Edition

Does anyone know how you're supposed to replace the batteries in the Light Cycle that comes with the Collector's Edition? It took me forever just to find the switch that turns the thing on, and there's no discernible space in the model for the batteries. The piece near the back covering the driver seems a little loose, and I wondered if perhaps it was removable to allow access to a battery compartment, but I don't feel like prying at it without knowing for sure.
