June Sarpong... what the hell?

So I stumbled on this show while reading up on Jon Ronson's excellent book Them. Thought it sounded funny so downloaded a few episodes. In the first we're introduced to his team, and one of them is an 'investigator' called June. Can anyone explain what on earth she's doing in this? I assume she's not well known in America but here in the UK she is a very familiar face... as a presenter of pop music TV shows aimed at kids. In a world where Rihanna's lovelife and Miley Cyrus's hairstyle are amongst the most heavyweight issues tackled, she came off as particularly lightweight. An unadvised attempt to break into grownup TV by offering 'opinions'on politics made her look ridiculous. What, exactly, are her credentials for this show? She seems to be a producer too. Does anyone know how this bizarre career transfer came about?
