Any ideas about the writing on the cabinet?

I assume that it was written by the others who dissappear before them? Also should we assume that the person who tried to hang themselves was from the previous group? I really liked the movie overall and also wanted to add that the guy from A Christmas story syole the movie

The person was successful in the hanging and then disappeared - just like the guy who shot himself.

But why would someone write a help me note on the inside of a cabinet and then close the door? Why write it at all? Who was the note for? I can only assume that the person has already gone crazy.

But what bugs me is why all the firemen, police and paramedics also disappeared at the same time. And it was as soon as Clair stopped looking at them. It doesn't make sense - they should vanish only when no one else is looking.

After i rewatched I wonder if maybe we are lrd to believe that everyone else dissappear when it was her who dissappeared and that's how it looks to others who have

reply

That was my thinking, as the dispatcher's voice also stopped and everything went dead silent. If the dispatcher wasn't at the cabin and thus out of the 'disappearing zone', then Claire would have continued to hear it.

It's too cerebral! We're trying to make a movie here, not a film!

That's what I was thinking when it happened. Only logical conclusion. God, could you imagine? She'd be just like stuck in limbo, nobody or nothing around. The thought of that actually makes this movie a little creepy.

By the way, I am right behind you.

we all know that the right place to write for help is on the inside of a cabinet. . .

Well played

Someone who was desperate, scared, and thinking that if they hid themselves in the cabinet perhaps whatever was happening would pass them by, but wanted to leave something behind - a trace? I'd be so terrified in that situation likely I would have written a similar message - a last desperate plea to whatever the fk was about to erase me out of existence.

reply

Someone who was desperate, scared...and a child. A child crawled in and left the message. That's why it's in crayon.

What about the "don't blink" writing on the mirror? And how long had all this been going on? And why? Also if Claire had disappeared from the squad car, why did she still see everything but the people? Seems to me that she was left alone and in limbo, but not disappeared. Check out "Mirrors" with Kiefer Sutherland about someone left in limbo and invisible to everyone else. By the way, I liked "Don't Blink" but I would like to have seen something about why all this was happening.

Because it made no sense just like the movie itself. It's like they threw a lot of things in the movie to confuse and mystify you. Then the ultimate confusion and mystification was the stupid ending.
