I feel like I haven't seen any discussion about the main point of the movie:
1. It doesn't matter what we think the "explanation" was, because at some point in time every trace of you will be erased.
^ This right here is the horror aspect of the movie that I think a lot of people seem to be overlooking.
2. At some point in time, every trace of the movie will be erased.
^ Meta stuff right there.
It took me a while to grasp it but yeah, I think thats the general idea.
The problem is, they did a poor job getting that point across.
Well they did come right out and say it through the Christmas Story guy (Can't remember his name). He said something about none of it mattering because they are going to be erased anyway, and then used the video tape as an example...
By the way, I am right behind you.
Couldn't they have just walked away on foot or was this one of the movies where they walk but end up back in the same place? They could have just walked and walked, no matter the miles, just put some distance in between you and that place.
shareI get that, as it was stated flat out, but it doesn't make it any less stupid because it's too simple of an idea to waste 1-2 house of a movie to make the point with no other point made other than it.

If those are deep thoughts for someone to be excited over they are definitely playing in the shallow end of the pool.
Would a sequel be about some other simple obvious idea like "everyone alive was born once"?
