This movie works because of one thing
The acting and chemistry was amazing...I read Anna Faris was supposed to play the lead but I just don't think it would have worked
shareI agree. The film itself is entertaining but it's the acting and chemistry between the actors which makes it something special. Bill Hader was faultless and his chemistry with Kristen Wiig was fantastic. In fact, he had really good chemistry with all the other actors as well (even that middle-aged woman at the gay bar and she was just a bit part).
I'm glad Anna Faris wasn't cast as Maggie as the chemistry between her and Hader would have been totally off. Also, I like Kristen Wiig a lot more as an actress (Anna lacks the range Kristen has).
