Terrible ending

I feel as though if Maggie had died, this movie would be perfect. Its like what Dustin Hoffman's character said in Stranger Than Fiction, after reading that novel, it's good, but it's not great. Sure you can feel good and happy after a movie, but the overall tone of this film was depressing and dark, that final punch of death and a sad ending would be beautiful. I personally want to come out of a movie with a strong emotion whether it's sadness, happiness, anger, or whatever. Life isn't always happy, and things don't always turn out right. If you're going to make a movie that dark and then make a u turn and make it bright, it's a big *beep* you to the viewers face.

I figured lance would end up dead

I hear what you're saying but personally I think if she had died it would have been too depressing

Maggie does die at the end, just as Milo dies at the beginning.

The story is told symbolically. The title "The Skeleton Twins" is reference to the death theme, reinforced by the metaphor of the goldfish. The two goldfish that die are Milo and Maggie, hence the reason both their suicide attempts take place in water.

When the audience sees Milo save Maggie, it is a depiction of the afterlife. Hence the surreal nature of his being able to divine her exact location at the moment she is going to die. He is an angel, just as he had an angelic presence in Maggie's life throughout the film.

Of course, the depiction of the death theme is totally surreal. It isn't steeped in a "Sixth Sense" type of realism where the audience can see Milo doesn't interact with any of the other characters, sans the main character, throughout the film. But, Milo's existence insofar as impacting the plot is incidental. Maggie is the character that affects everything regarding the central plot.

In essence, the film is about Maggie going through stages of grieving her brother’s death.

I don't really agree, but that is a very interesting take on things.

or you know, pretentious.

The whole thing was OK
but that part -urghhh... I hope they included the awful script as a meta joke because how do f-ck did he know the exact place where his sister was going to kill herself with two tiny weights?

Pretentious? F you.

Of course, "pretentious," the favorite word for those who love only the most obvious films. There are plenty of those out there for you. No need for you to view the "pretentious" ones.

ha ha ha, what absolute nonsense, you've just made up a different film

That's an j retesting interpretation, but that doesn't explain the scenes between Milo and the teacher...?

or Milo and Lance.

Your post doesn't show how deep or real you are, it only serves as proof that humans love negative emotions and self pity. People do actually get off on sadness, anger and even hate.
