Right through the scope.....

Seen the shot near the end where the guy shoots the other one (à la S.P.Ryan) and just wondered .Did anyone else see the episode of Myth-busters where they try this shot at everything up to point blank range and ended up busting it?? Its practically impossible to make a bullet go through a scope and kill someone.....Whats a sniper movie without that shot though??

Yeah, I saw that. While not likely with modern scopes, it is possible. The movie (original) picked it up from a shot that Carlos Hathcock made during the Vietnam war.

He and another sniper were hunting each other & Carlos caught the glint from the other sniper's scope.

Yeah i learned all about that shot when i was a kid but it was never confirmed if it was a true shot through the scope or (infinitely more likely) something like the bullet hitting the scope and sending shrapnel into the guys eye/head.

jcrocker-6 has the correct answer, A modern scope has too many elements (lenses) inside, but the Russian scopes used by the Viet Cong only had a couple elements.

Watch all three parts of this video, but if you just want the story of the scope shot it starts a little before the 7 minute mark.

Also read the book 93 confirmed kills by Charles Henderson. My favorite part of the book is chapter #7 "Apache", Carlos tracks down a ruthless female sniper that has been mutilating soldiers by cutting their private parts off and then killing the soldiers

Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most

At longer ranges, it isn't possible because the bullet is arcing too much. The drop with his equipment is almost 40' at 1000 yards.

Not to take anything away from the guy, he was a beast.

The TV shows that tried it basically did it at short ranges or point blank.
