Only 20 minutes in so far...

I guess I'll watch on, but so far it seems like it's a story about a girl who for some reason imagines everyone's lives and the whole world should centre on her. It seems to suggest some kind of ironic absurdity or unfairness to having to adjust to the fact this isn't so.

If that's the point, and it turns out the film is sort of about how kids nowadays are raised to think themselves centre of the universe, and the rude awakening they experience when they find no one shares this view - then fine. But I suspect not, given that up to this point we seem to be invited to share her frustration at not being recognized as inherently more important than everyone else.

I'm not ready to give up on the film yet, but given its acclaim I'm surprised to find myself having to commit to watching the rest only out of a sense of obligation.

unfortunately it's not the self aware character study you may have guessed. in all of lena's works, her character is always like this.
