Lets just stipulate that this game and its prequel show an alternate history of the Star Wars universe since it really can't exist with what we know about Episodes 4-6.

I would like to speculate that the point of divergence is that the Emperor invests a lot of research and money into spider droids and cloning after taking power. I'm not saying that the events of Episodes 4-6 don't take place, but lets just say that they differ from what we saw in the movies. Everyone satisfied?

Oh, that makes sense, since there weren't spider droids and clones in the prequels, and there's stuff that contradicts the movies...
