Big names

I guess it's fun to see stars pop up in minor roles in movies, but why? They don't really move the story along. Did they really need Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei in this, when many mid-level actors could have done just as well? I'm sure both actors need the money, but this all seems like overkill. It's actors taking creepy roles when they should get better parts!
The money may be nice, but it doesn't do much for their image. I can't imagine a casting director seeing them in this role, and thinking they should be in the next film!
