Get a grip, Marisa Tomei!

Sorry if this has been posted before. I only browsed the first three pages of posts and didn't see anything on it so I decided to start my own post...
I loved this movie...
the only part that bugged me was the way Marisa Tomei reacted at the Parent/Teacher conference. Why was she so PISSED? Was it because he didn't call? Because she seemed like she was shocked to see him there with his wife...which didn't make sense to me because she knew he was married. And I mean, it makes sense that both parents would be at the conference so I just didn't get why it almost seemed as if she had no idea he was married. And, all that aside, how unprofessional was she, causing such a scene at the school in front of everyone, geez! Or maybe it was just meant to show her crazy side? I don't know...she just bugged me in that scene, big time. Just wanted to see what others thought about it.
Other than that one part irking me, I loved this movie.

I have have been BOTH Marissa and Steve Carrel in similar situations in the past, so I relate! I have been pissed when not called, AND been the not-caller who gets screamed at. Its happens ALL THE TIME.

Although Marisa Tomei was excellent in her portrayal, I just thought it was so over the top. I mean she embarrassed herself at her workplace.

She was angry because he didn't call. At that moment he and his wife were separated. It just goes to show that a lot of women can't handle casual sex and shouldn't do it. I don't know why women who care about committment and want a man to take them seriously have casual sex and then get mad when the man flakes on them.

Just really stupid!

You couldnt find this posted anywhere else because this is a non issue. Cal told her he had an Ex wife. Also she didnt know his son was in her class because when he got in trouble for saying *beep* his mom came and picked him up. So all she knew was that he had an ex wife...She said to him as she left please call me or something like that and he never called and went out and banged a bunch of other girls.
So yes it was a surprise at the conference because they didnt really know who eachother were and yes she was pissed because he just used her for sex and never called back and now it looks as though he lied to her and said he had an ex wife and actually just cheated on his wife with her.
And also she says shes a recovering alcoholic. The scene she causes is fairly believeable considering the type of person she is. And who says all teachers are super professional? I know thats a load of crap

It was clear from the way Kate behaved in the bar that she wasn't the typical lady looking for a one night stand. Instead, she was an older woman looking for a relationship. All of Jacob's tips failed with her, it wasn't until Cal started pouring out his life story that she got excited.

So yeah, it's not surprising she felt the way she did. But her actions were crazy.

I think because she had really amazing sex, and met a guy who was completely honest, and then he doesn't call. Then he rocks up to the meeting with a wife who was not divorced from him, and then he acts like he doesn't really know her. Its all there.. and she is a teacher, probably makes her loco

reply

I can see why she was upset after he dumped her after a one night stand.

Its that man again!!

reply

She was never even dumped; they didn't ever go out! It really was pretty ridiculous. I hope I would act better, but I've never run into a one-night stand later. I don't even know if I would recognize them. I imagine most people are similar.

when you're outrageously hot like marisa anything you do make sense

reply

I agree. I don't really care for her in the first place because she seems to play this role a lot. In What Women Want she was a clingy, weepy, coffee shop girl fawning over Mel Gibson. The brought an annoying nostalgia.

oh come now, the scene is hilarious; its a comedy... not reality.

She is upset because she thought they had connected in some special way, but he didn't call her so she was insulted and felt used, but instead she meet him with his wife so likely think he lied to her.

But yeah, her response was over the top and crazy... ITs a comedy!!!!

Great scene.
