Favorite Voice Actors

Okay, so having played through the Decepticon campaign I thought I'd share my thoughts on the voice acting so far. Obviously, I wish they'd gotten more G1 voice actors to fill the roles they really originated 25 years ago. Still, I think there are some good actors in this game. Here's my "Breakdown:"

Megatron & Brawl:
Although a big Frank Welker fan, I'm alright with Fred Tatasciore. He did a solid job as Megatron, making him sound powerful and menacing. Given that, his voice was almost too similar to Brawl's voice actor, Nolan North. North did a good job as Brawl, but I had to think about what they were saying once in a while to tell which was which.

The Seekers:
The two that sounded *almost identical* to me (much more close than Megs and Brawl) were Thundercracker's (Graham McTavish) and Skywarp's (Richard Epcar). I *really* had to listen to those two to tell them apart. Speaking of the Seekers, I wasn't particularly thrilled with Starscream's voice work (Sam Riegel). Something just didn't "click" with the voice. I actually think Doug Parker did a better version of Starscream back in Beast Wars.

Soundwave:
Good use of the sound effects that brought Soundwave's original voice to life back in the 1980's (and good job sticking it to Michael Bay who said those effects could no longer be done). The *only* thing missing from a great Soundwave character was the ever-changing tonality of the voice itself. Isaac Singleton does a decent job, but he needs to keep changing the pitch of his voice to get Soundwave "down." So far, he just comes across as too monotone.

Barricade:
Steve Blum (Barricade) is a prolific voice actor for a very simple reason - "he's the best he as it what he does" (which if funny, considering he's voice Wolverine on several occasions). He always pulls out all the stops and has done a tremendous bringing some famous characters to life (like Spike in Cowboy Bebop). The only problem I had with his Barricade was that he sounded *exactly* like Oghren from Dragon Age. I kept hearing the voice and expecting it to come out of a drunken dwarf (which, incidentally, would have been priceless).

Breakdown:
The voice I've been most impressed with so far is Crispin Freeman's. His portrayal of Breakdown has been awesome. He's really made the character a lot of fun. Granted, he's an experienced actor too - Kyon in Haruhi, Itachi in Naruto, Alucard in Hellsing, etc., etc. - but he really seemed to enjoy this role. He pulls it off like the pro he is - he makes Breakdown come across as a believable little Decepticon grunt. Well done, in my opinion - he might be my favorite Decepticon character.

What does everyone else think of the voice acting so far among the Decepticons? How about the Autobots?

Well I agree that Fred did a great job voicing Megatron. Even though his voice isn't heavy sounding to Frank Welker's original voice, it was nice to see that he did a real great job recapturing Megatron's G1 maniacal personality that we all know and fans of from G1. The same goes for Starscream they brought back his arrogant twit personality aswell. The same also goes for Skywarp and Thundercracker's characters aswell, and as an added plus they developed Thundercracker's character more so now he's not so underrated like he was on the show.

(On a sidenote: As good as they were, one thing as a fan I would like to if I was encharge is get Frank Welker as Megs, Mark Hammil as Starscream, and Paul and Brian Dobson as Skywarp and Thundercraker.)

As for Soundwave, yeah he's good I can't find any fault with his voice or his actor, my only complaint is Rumble and Frenzy. As great as seeing these two guys again were, they're voices were really unrefined. They need way more work.

Trypticon's voice was really good.

Johnny Yong Bosch also was great as Bumblebee.

Ratchet and Ironhide were good aswell along with Warpath.

Omega Supreme was fine to say the least.

As for the rest of the Autobots their personalitys were real authentic to the G1 cartoon as I remembered.

I also like to say that Isaac Singleton who voices Soundwave is also very great as the voice of Cybertron's Core/maybe Primus that imparts Optimus with the Matrix of Leadership in the end of the game.
