Hated the ending.

Thought it was a decent flick, good premise and some good moments. But I could not STAND the ending. Yeah the guy's accomplice was kidnapped and that's terrible. But after she helped him torture and kill these girls, and even killed some of them herself, she absolutely didn't deserve to kill the guy. That final kill belonged to one of the new girls. That one change would have let me like this movie a whole lot more.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the inherent logic behind having the protege' kill him. She's the one who's been hurt most in this, she's had to endure his torture for so many years. But the reason it didn't work for me is that it was so poorly developed. There was no gradual slope to it at all, one second she's killing girls for him and the next second all of a sudden she turns on him.

I do agree it was decent and could have been done better. I didn't like the open ending myself but I did like that the accomplice did what everyone else wanted to do to that guy.

Obviously the accomplice had some form of Stockholm Syndrome. 10 years of rape and torture will *beep* a person up. Her being intimate and helping him kill was most likely her way of trying to survive in that situation. Hell, she probably helped him before and i wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Could explain why she was so willing.

Remember that scene where she uses the Machete to cut the rope and hack the girl to death? I felt she was a bit remorseful afterwards. You can see she see starts freaking out after the whole thing. I think that was her change in the film, although I wish that got more screen time.

Decent effort. I thought the acting was pretty damn good. I automatically thought "a cleaner version of the original Last House on the Left.

I have just finished watching and totally agree the ending ruined what could have been a solid thriller. I did not feel sorry for his sidekick after she did so many horrible acts, she took no pleasure in what she did and I was glad she left Margot at the end but she could have turned on the guy much earlier than she chose to and saved so many people.

My take on the ending was that although she was a willing accomplice to killing off the girls (although at times she might have felt a bit remorseful as the other commenter said), I think she was really PO'ed that he was keeping one for himself. She obviously knew that this meant she was being replaced (or at least being derated) and she figured she'd had enough of the slimeball. As for why the surviving new girl didn't have the honors of killing him... I think the strongest and most deserving of the new girls had already been killed.

Plain AND simple the ONLY reason she "turned on him" at that moment in time was strictly due to the fact that she knew he was about to kill her.

His calling her "What's up fatty!" And her seeing that he'd already made his mind up in having replaced her with a "newer" version in Margo, she knew she was about to be murdered hence she killed him.

That's why there was no slow reveal and build up due to that's exactly how quickly the facts unfolded before her when she reached the boat after having "killed for him".

Yeah her turning on him with 5 girls left, then she falls off a cliff, the girls find a way to kill him with a rock or big stick, find the keys to the boat, that would have been a good ending. Not what we got. It made it all gross and stupid.
