When the Republican guy finally catches the girls by the boat, it's terrible. But I can't figure out the motivation to the other girl.

A.) It's unlikely the guy is politically-minded in any way, shape, or form. Not everyone is aligned to one political party or the other; most Americans have absolutely zero interest or involvement in voting.

B.) The "other girl"'s motivation is that she is the victim kidnapped ten years earlier by that guy. That guy made her his slave (as was alluded to at the start of the film), and she is only helping her violent abuser do as he wants... which is to get THE ONE GIRL that he wants to kidnap out of the bunch.
