Ritch Shydner

I was just thinking the other day, “I wonder why I haven’t seen ‘that Ritch guy that used to be on The Tonight Show’ around any more?” And yes, I admit I had forgotten your last name, but I had always enjoyed your comedy. And then just a few minutes ago I caught “I am Comic” On Demand and there you were, telling your story about how it just didn’t quite pan out as well as it could’ve for you, and I was compelled to get to my computer and post this.

Man, DO NOT quit! Keep going. YOU are funny and you know it. Now of course I’m no expert; I’m no club owner or TV producer or scout or anything like that; I’m just a guy who watches HBO and SHOWTIME and Comedy Central and all the rest of ‘em, but you belong back on the scene, man.

When I see SO MANY of these other “comics” that aren’t even the least bit funny; comics who are so lame making big bucks and selling out HUGE auditoriums on huge tours *cough* Dane Cook *cough* and I discover thru IAC that your confidence has been shaken, or that you have doubts about whether it’s worth it...it just makes shake my head in bewilderment.

I don’t know why it was you didn’t make “the next big step” but I IMPLORE you to keep pluggin’ man—you’re truly one of the great ones! And trust me; there are PLENTY of your fans (like me) still out here waiting for ya!

You can do it, man. Come on back!

I totally agree with you. In fact, there is a scene where Ritch is calling other comics and they flash his number on the screen. So, I called it. It went to voicemail (as expected), so I left a message. He texted me back the next day to say thanks for the support. Oh yeah, the message I left was a supportive one.
