Worst Use Of Subtitles Ever?

Much of the film used black and white footage, so the white subtitles on top of film showing streets or buildings which appear almost white made reading the subtitles next to impossible. I found myself getting a slight headache while attempting to read the translations of what the interviewees were saying. Mind you, I watched this movie on a 27 inch TV screen...maybe in the movie theatre one could more easily read the subtitles?

The only other example of poorly exectuved subtitles that I can think of was for Lagaan, where they used yellow subtitles. Which was great...until many of the scenes were filmed outside in a desert-like landscape. Yellow subtitles over top of golden sand. Very stupidly done. I believe I gave up watching that movie, so maybe it was a worse example of subtitling!

Are there several versions of this film? The subtitles were quite readible when I saw it.
