every time i see a preview for a new Pixar movie or any number of computer animated family films being shoved down our throats it just makes me want to vomit. Mindless, tasteless, uninspired crap. thats all it is. Studio Ghibli is such a breath of fresh air. Such beautiful animation and poignant stories. I really wish more people would understand this.

I could hate all Studio Ghibli films based on the way Miyazaki desecrated one of my favourite books, Howl's Moving Castle[/i} (which i knew was gonna happen as soon as i heard that his idea that the way a moving castle would move was giant chicken feet), but i don't.
I don't think they're quite as great as some people say ... but aside from HMC, i haven't seen any really BAD Ghibli films. (I am studiously avoiding [i]Ponyo, and i never bothered to finish watching Spirited Away...)
Hate when people complain about how the movie is different from the book. Miyazaki made his own version of the book, and even the author of the book is ok with that. Forget it already, Howl's Moving Castle is Miyazaki's own version of a book and he doesn't have to do it exactly like the book. Disney has been making movies based on fairy tales since the beginning of times. Nobody is complaining that Snow White, Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella are not like their original sources. So why all the b*tching about HMC not following the book?? Stupid as hell!
