Beautiful film. One of Spielberg's best.

This is one of my most fondly remembered and gladly rewatched movies of the last few years. This is the movie that brought Spielberg to his old self, it's the Spielberg I thought was lost to time. It's sentimental, it's quintessentially Spielbergian, and it has a grip on me at every scene.

I wanted to post something positive about this film so there you go.

I liked it a lot too.
There were a few things not so great - (discussed on another thread here)
But I give it an 8.5.
It's definitely a keeper as part of my DVD collection now.

There were a few really priceless scenes.

Part of my fondness is bc my grandfather was in WW1,
and my father was in WW2 and also a war history-buff.
I always wish I could watch movies like this with them so they could point out realities
and inaccuracies.

Agree that it is very Spielbergian, and a very good film. Excellent cast, great cinematography and production. It's a sentimental story, so Spielberg is a great director to bring it to the screen. One of his best recent films.
