This show is against the entire Idea of the CIA

MARRIED CIA OPERATIVES!!!! Yeah right, not on this planet.

This last episode clearly re-enforced that fact when his wife was in trouble,
and he almost blew everything.

It is a rule not an exception.

I believe the show is about married CIA operatives

reply

Yeah, not to mention D.C. --and Langley-- has a history of suggesting dating and marriage within their respective communities. Politicians with politicians, Intelligence with Intelligence, etc. It allows them to keep tabs on individuals without having to try.

android654 PROVE IT!!! you can't!!! The CIA will not allow agents to become lovers or married for the simple fact that it could compromise the operation.

Imagine Gugu and O'boy getting caught; and O'boy strapped into a chair. Gugu hands are bound above her head, and strip down and demoralized in front of him. when do you think he will sing like a canary???

Do CIA officers have affairs with other CIA officers?

Yes, that is quite common at the CIA, sadly. I mean there was a running joke at the agency that, typically a CIA spy might marry someone else within the organization, within the directorate of operations, and then 20 years down the line divorce that person and marry one of the younger ones coming up. There was a whole group called the First Wives Club in the CIA because they had been the first wives. So, like any organization where you work very closely with someone, there are bound to be situations where people cross the line and so there are a lot of affairs within the agency. It tends to be, sadly, a rather incestuous organization.

I find many organizations are like that. Odd that the CIA is like that but not surprising. It would be SO HARD to find someone outside of the agency with the amount of time you spend working.

And btw; slapped down! Why couldn't any of you look this up yourselves?

I know, right? The nerve of a TV show making things up and straying away from reality. How can TV do this to us? Next thing you know they'll have shows about space travel, vampires, and people who can fly. What's the world coming to?

Actually they both quit the CIA when they got married. They have been out for 5 years. For some unknown reason the CIA wants them both back, which is why they are currently working together.

Save AJ Cook and Paget Brewster!

I don't think there are real-life rules for this type of "CIA operative", simply because it doesn't exist. Intelligence-gathering operatives can certainly be married to each other, because it's extremely unlikely they'll ever encounter any sort of violent situation during their entire career. For para-military operatives, the question does not arise in the first place, because I'd be very surprised if there were a single woman among them - they recruit almost exclusively from Delta Force, SEALs and the like.
