Since both movies were based on the same book, didn't Harriet's "body" end up in the same place?

I'm surprised LOL read the books and saw the american movie, thought the swedish would be the same as far as "telling the story of the book" goes LOL

We don't see her body because she isn't dead. In the book she is living in Australia. In the movie she assumed the identity of her cousin Anita.
