two sequels to The Girl with a dragon tattoo that Sony originally planned was scrapped according to Rooney Mara, "I don't think it's gonna happen, i'm sad never to do that again but it doesn't seem to be in the cards."
TGWTDT didn't do very great at the Box-Office. Amy Pascal and Michael De Luca will team-up with Scott Rudin to Reboot the TGWTDT franchise from scratch without free-spending David Fincher.
In Hollywood terms it was a box office flop.. According to Box Office Mojo the production cost 90 Million (not including promotional costs) and it went on to make only 12 Million more at the box office.. Worldwide they only made 52 million more than how the bean counters view things (a film has to double its production costs to be deemed successful, to break even and then some in North America)
Films that would be considered flops are considered successes because of the worldwide market, most big hyped films do relatively well but as I recall a few years back Sony didn't even put the machine behind it to promote it properly..
Or maybe the ending of the film rubbed people the wrong way that they stayed away from the theater.. I would have loved the film overall but the ending as to where she was all those years was weak.
