Which version should I watch?!

The Swedish original or the David Fincher re-adaption?

EDIT (2/4/2017 DD/MM/YY):

Thank you for all of your wonderful replies. I actually prefer Fincher's take on the novel to the Swedish version. Honestly the only difference I can recall from watching both films is the pacing; I think the Swedish version is paced too fast compared to the American one. It might be because I watched the American re-adaptation first, read the novel, then watched the Swedish original. I don't really know and it's not a fair comparison. Still, I recommend the novel over the film. But if you dislike reading, then I recommend that you watch Fincher's version.

Read the book.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS watch the movie without daniel "no Bond" craig. Terrible actor.

reply

I wholeheartedly disagree. Craig was fantastic in this excellent version.

reply

It's ok that you disagree as there must also be room for wrong opinions.

daniel "no Bond" craig is never, ever fantastic. He would have been great working in a supermarket or being a truck driver. Not an actor.

reply

Opinions are just that. Mine is no more right or wrong than yours.

reply

No no no, you're wrong. Your opinion about daniel "no Bond" craig being fantastic really is wrong, because it's not just an opinion, it's a fact.

reply

Go soak your head. You'll realize your opinion is in fact, wrong.

reply

That's just your opinion. Not a fact. daniel "no Bond" craig should have been a burger flipper.

reply

That's just your opinion. Not a fact.

reply

It's a fact that nobody will agree with your opinion. They will with my opinion because my opinions are factual, and that's a fact, certainly in my opinion.

reply

I'm impressed that you consider yourself the spokesman for everyone. You may want to see someone about your delusions.

reply

I only consider myself the spokesman for facts.

reply

Then you might want to get some facts.

reply

That's your opinion.

reply

No it isn't.

reply

Yes it is, and that's a fact.

reply

No it isn't.

reply

Maybe in your opinion but in fact you are wrong.

reply

No I'm not.

Daniel Craig was miscast in this or this just wasn’t his best (he was fantastic in Layer Cake). Everyone one has a “nordic” accent and he decides to still be British. Plus, there is absolutely NO chemistry between Blomkvist and Lisbeth in this movie, which is necessary and not in the sequels. There is nothing like the original. In many cases, in the US version, the over-stylization becomes a problem on so many levels that it interferes with the movie - is struggles with itself - trying to get the right look, especially the look of Lisbeth. Alone, she is interesting - standing next to Blomkvist - it is too odd. She should be next to Marilyn Manson. The effort to stylize reminds me of someone who is constantly looking at their own reflection while trying to engage in a conversation. This is not Fincher’s best. Yet, I would have liked to see Fincher’s sequels to complete the trilogy. Because as where the original movie is better than Fincher’s, perhaps Fincher doing the two sequels might have been better than the originals. Lisbeth and Blomkvist aren’t really together in the last two.

I've probably weighed in on this somewhere in this thread, but it does not hurt to reiterate ... watch the original with Noomi Rapace, and the late Michael Nyquist. There is not even a need for the Hollywood version ... why mess with perfection? Really, why even mess with close to perfection when the Hollywood version are barely ever as good, and never better than the originals. The English versions just seem to be made on a calculated basis that there is audience out there who cannot read or are too lazy to read subtitles that will pay to see the movies - so they make it for profit only.

The first - Swedish - see the extended version. Chemistry of Lizabeth and Mikael is so much better in the first one. But I love Fincher - and the remake was very good but the first one is the better one. I do wish Fincher would do more seasons of Mindhunter.
