Why is Ed Harris so skinny?

I mean I watch Ed Harris a lot just saw him the week before in SnowPiercer but I have never seen him as skinny as this. Is he sick or just healthy?

He not only looked skinny and sick but really old too. Is he OK?

Ten minutes into the movie I came here to find out the same thing and to check cast list to make sure it was him.

But it appears people are telling silly jokes about him looking so thin the face and/or that they just don't know why he looks like 'death-warmed-up'

I look forward to a proper answer to what's 'wrong' with him.

I always found Harris to be on the skinny side, especially in some films where he is even thinner.

Maybe he came off from some role where had to play someone who was ill.

An article mentioned that he had to lose 30 lbs. for the role of Pollock. I don't believe he has been sick.
