What did you find memorable?

One of the little things that amused me was the comparison of stand-up comedy to war. Jon Stewart outgunning Joan Rivers at the roast because he has 12 writers working for him.

Another bit: Joan Rivers standing in front of the TV rating her fellow stand-ups. Ben Stiller: "Lucky." lol

I didn't catch who it was Joan had never heard of. Anyone know?

I also didn't hear any comments from her when Lewis Black's name was mentioned. I would have thought she'd consider him brilliant as well.

It was the singer, Ben E. King, who, according to Wikipedia:

"......performed "Stand By Me" during a televised tribute to late comedian George Carlin, as he was one of Carlin's favorite artists."

The only thing I can think of as to why she made no comment about Lewis Black was that "in the moment", it took a few seconds when first hearing the list of names being read off on-screen, before her brain 'kicked in' and she started verbalizing her one word assessments of each celebrity as they were mentioned......by then though, Black's name had already passed.

I agree with you that this was quite fascinating.........and think that her 'assessments' were pretty much spot-on.

Thanks, msdemos!

I can't imagine her not having an opinion about Black, presumably a favorable one.

I knew she had made jokes about her husband in the past, but I didn't know he killed himself. My interpretation is he let her down at a very low point, after she stood up for him. Sad.

She didn't comment after Margaret Cho's name was mentioned either. I'd be curious about what Joan's rating of another comedienne would be.

Well this film was just memorable in general, but my favorite scene is when Joan is in the limo with her grandson, Cooper. I just loved seeing her as a grandma, and I thought it was a very sweet moment in the film.
