2 fathers?

really??????

Woke is a cancer, and it needs exterminating utterly and completely.

reply

What a piece of shit some of you people are. It has nothing to do with being "woke" dumbshit, it has to do with the fact that there are actually gay couples out there in the world, and they do adopt kids, so why can't that be shown in a movie as well? You bunch of backwards-ass childish idiots I swear...

reply

Fucking wear one you fucking woke wanker.

reply

Grow up. You right-wing nuts are the most whining bunch of little bitches I have ever heard. Over 200 years of white misogynistic racists like you being represented in government and in media, and finally people of color and people in the gay community get to be represented and you all cry like 4-year-olds that had your candy got taken away from you... pathetic. You're all a bunch of incel trolls. I mean, seriously, how can you sit there and think to yourself that how you think and what you say on here is good and just? You must have the most pathetic life that THIS is what you get worked up about...

reply

I'd give those clowns a wide berth if I were you, it's pointless to argue with them at this point.

reply

People that say this are looking for attention. It's a deep cry for mommy and daddy not loving them as a child. No point in engaging. Peace.

reply

That's how it was in the book.

reply

Was just going to say this.

reply

lmao reminds me of when my sister was complaining about Alex Cross being black. And then she realized he was. She's like omg I've been reading all of these books thinking he was a white man. Super silly.

reply

And? They convert hetero characters all the time. Why can't they convert gays from their book to movie adaptation?

reply

DUMB

reply

So disingenuous and insincere. You guys are the first to fall to the ground kicking and screaming if the race, gender or sexuality of a character is changed from the source material (how DARE they mess with the original characters blah blah blah) but if the original characters are gay you suddenly change your tune and think it’s perfectly acceptable to erase the original author’s vision.

Put simply, you just hate seeing homosexual characters in movies. This whole “woke” hysteria is nothing more than an excuse to be openly bigoted. It’s so obvious to anyone with even the slightest capacity to look critically beyond your loud and monotonous bluster.

reply

This has never happened, though. We never got to see a gay character from a book converted into a heterosexual in the movie adaption.

For all your protests about those who protests these changes, our qualms and proposals for converting a gay character into a straight character will never leave the confines of this message board.

reply

The people who have a problem with the gays would typically rather ban books than read them

reply

Yeah I noped out after seeing that.

reply

Me too. I was very disappointed to see Shyamalan tell a story with two dads. WTF? Especially considering the Christian themes in Signs, and arguably also in The Village, I didn't expect this.

reply

Um...we know there are married gay folks & stuff but it seems like movies now are trying too too hard to cram it in every little thing they do. It's annoying & not needed.

reply

ALMOST 500 FILMS WERE RELEASED LAST YEAR...TELL ME...HOW MANY EQUALS "TRYING TOO TOO HARD TO CRAM IT IN EVERY LITTLE THING THEY DO"?

reply

That's absolutely what is happening. The gay checkbox has to be checked for every movie, in some way.

reply

🤣

reply

Too right. These aren’t movies, they’re propaganda masquerading as movies.

It’s a shame because I’m always rooting for Shyamalan to make a comeback - well, looks like he finally has… but he’s slathered it in woke.

I want to support him but I can’t in good conscience pay for this.

reply

Seriously? How the hell is putting gay couples in movies "propaganda" or "woke"? "Slathered it in woke"? Do you know how stupid that sounds, and it's proof that you don't even know what the term "woke" means? Gay couples exist in real life, they go to the movies just like anybody else, and I'm sure they're glad to go see a horror film that's about folks like them for a change. Tired of you crazy-a** right-wingers calling everything that dosen't have the typical boring straight white heterosexual couple as the main characters "woke" like that's something bad, simply because your crazy close-minded homophobic a**** don't like it. The term "woke" came from black activists who started the first BLM protests back in 2014---the term itself simply means to be aware of social injustice going on around you. That's all it means.

I just saw this film a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was very suspenseful, thoughtful, and not your typical end-of-the-world movie. The main couple being gay is not made a big deal of, it's simply who they are. They're just a regular gay couple with a cute little child on vacation when their world suddenly gets turned upside down by a bunch of strangers---that's what the film is about. Two men being married isn't the end of the world, so get over yourself, please. And M. Night already made a major comeback several years ago with SPLIT and GLASS. Another thing---this film was based on a book, so it's not something M. Night came up with it by himself. He still obviously thought it was good enough to be made into a movie, though.

reply

Christian gays exist too. They aren't all atheists, wtf?

reply

I rated this movie a 6.5/10.

Would've scored it lower if they'd included a scene of the couple kissing or getting intimate, which most of us don't want to see. But other than just looking at each other, they didn't do anything or get all lovey dovey - just some dialogue talking about loving each other.

Movie's OK for a one time watch, nothing special and does drag on a bit at times, but overall not terrible. And once you watch it, you can see why the premise wouldn't work on a male-female couple - there is a question of sacrifice and with a hetero couple, the husband volunteering to give his life would be a no brainer and the only possible outcome.

reply

Seriously? You do know that there are gay Christians, and gay folks in every religion too, right? They exist, and they work, go to school, come home and play with their kids just like anybody else. And they go to church too. I'm sure some of them appreciated seeing themselves in a mainstream horror film for once.

reply

There may be gay Christians insofar as there are Christians who engage in a wide variety of sins. They should repent.

Romans 1 will not be rebuffed.

reply

Shama-lama-ding-dong has gone woke too trying to be relevant...again.

reply

Oh, boy-----you crazy right-wingers love to scream and call everything you don't like or understand "woke". The term "woke" was coined by black activists from some of the earliest BLM protests in 2014, simply means to be aware of social injustice going on around you in both your neighborhood and in the wider world. That's all it means. Of course, white people who can't stand seeing anybody or anything that isn't white, male or straight onscreen are the ones always throwing a f***ing fit every time they see a movie that isn't about someone who dosen't look or isn't exactly like them.

Which is really f***ing stupid, since at least 98% of movies that come out of Hollywood are starring, made by, and are about white men, because white men still run the majority of Hollywood, like they always have. So you whiny-a** right-wingers need to get the fck over yourselves and stop fckg hollering about something being "woke" just because you don't like it or can't relate to it. That's not even what "woke" means. It's like this---the world is changing, and it no longer revolves around just white men and whatever the hell they want anymore. So get the hell over it, and get used to the world changing---it's not about you any damn more.

reply

Yeah, Bwahahahaha!!!!!!!!! As if.

reply

Who thinks Ray Ray might be looking for a second “daddy” himself?

Just sayin’

reply

Cry, bigots, cry. Bwahaha.

reply

Yes. Welcome to the 20th century (this has been a thing openly since then).

reply

It’s not the 20th century, and films in that century weren’t crammed with woke propaganda.

Woke is a very 21st century disease.

reply

Two men adopting children has been happening since the last century. Don’t blame anyone else for being behind in the times.

reply

I'm sure you're also in favor of the doctors mutilating children to "transition" them.

reply

I'm sure you know that there's no actual proof across the board that gender-affirming care is actually harming anyone. That is just another non-issue that the repubs and fox news have gotten people all riled up over for no reason other than to get votes, and spewing the same ignorant bull**** you just did about it. It's just a bunch of lies and misinformation that the repubs are using to get these stupid bans against gender-affirming care.

Most of them probably wouldn't know a single damn thing about the procedures for transition if you actually asked them---just like a lot of repubs probably haven't read a single damn one of the books they're gotten people riled up enough against to get banned. Here's some actual real information from actual doctors about the subject here, not whatever fake sensationalized bull*** about it you got off of fox news. And nobody is being forced to get it, either, including kids---it's a choice---it's not even recommended for anyone until they're 16:

chester:

First of all, you clearly don't know what the term "woke" means. All it means is to be aware of social injustice going on all around you. That is all that it means. It means that anyone who fights for social justice---like Dr. King and the people who marched and fought with him to gain civil rights for black people---were "woke". It's insane how you right-wingers love to use the term to bash everything you don't like, when you don't even know what the hell the term actually means----that's why you all sound so damn stupid saying it.

All these repubs using that term that they basically hijacked from black activists who started using the term during BLM protests (the term actually dates back to the early '70s--it started out as the term "stay woke") and all these reporters on fox using it to bash anything that isn't right-wing, don't care what it really means, as long as they can use it for their own purposes. Just like that govenor in Florida who loves to bash anything he dosen't like as "woke" and is always coming up with some stupid new ban against it. He's just another wanna-be trump who isn't doing well in the polls, that's all. What's funny is how right-wingers are always stealing popular political slang terms from the left because they can't ever come up with anything original themselves.
