it was a fine film though!

Not everywhere.

Yea, it was a great film in my opinion. The fact that that was a real prison made it all the better (Mel said that what you see in the film, is what they actually saw when they visited the old prison. SO, they made it look like the real thing)

Amazing. lol

It practically was a straight to DVD release. In my area, it got a VOD release, nothing theatrical, which is a shame. This was a terrific movie that showcased another superbly charismatic performance by Gibson. This should have been Gibson's comeback hit like John Wick was for Keanu.

Of all the attempted 80s/90s throwback action films of the last few years (including Expendables, John Wick, Last Stand, Escape Plan, Bullet in the Head), this one was the best. It wasn't filled to the brim with non-stop action, but it delivered the right mix of fun thrills and and story to succeed as old-school action entertainment.

I think it's a good one and am surprised it didn't get a wider release and actually make some money., as it actually tanked pretty badly, even though it didn't have a huge budget. May be the fact that it has quite a bit of Spanish dialogue, put some audiences off.🐭
