Graham Greene

Not the actor, (whom I really like,) but the author. This stuff really happened in the late 20's and is the basis for one of the greatest books I ever read; "The Power and the Glory" by Graham Greene. I know you are film buffs like me and do not often read books but the Greene story was made into a film by John Ford in 1947 which starred Henry Fonda. "The Fugitive" was the film that got the famous quote from studio owner Myers "If I want to send a message I'll use Western Union."

This film was found on netflix and I assumed it was a bomb but O'Tool showed up, to my surprise and I found this film to be gripping from the first. Andy Garcia, like many other actors, can be good only if well directed with good script, and in this instance delivered a good performance.

Thank you for the book suggestion. This film was good for what it is, Conservative Catholic propaganda.
I have looked into the story some more and found that this movie has some major historical inaccuracies. I assume most of them were for story purposes (whether or not that was to better fit the political message also is a debate for a.)
Do you know how historically accurate Graham Greene's book is?
