Conservative Catholics....

... Are the only ones who liked this movie. It's not very good, I'd say just ok. As a film it falls too quickly into a predictable formula and was rather cliche. It has a decent cast of respected character actors making the best of what is given to them.
The worst offense, however, is the historical inaccuracies. Anyone with access to Google and ten minutes to kill can find hundreds of liberties the film took to make the films narrative fit into a conservative world view.
I hate to say it but this film is religious propaganda.
Finally, before I get called anti-Catholic, I am a Catholic. I went to Catholic schools. Igo to mass on Sunday. I have read dozens of encyclicals by a number Popes.
