'Family, Friends, and Lovers' starkly absent of same-sex couples


Although I like the episode and found it very informative, the absence of any mention of same-sex couples grew more distracting for me personally as the documentary progressed. But this also indirectly reveals an obstacle that most opposite-sex couples never have to face: the institutional and social forces in play that outright deny the validity and dignity of the relationship itself.

Even as a heterosexual, I was struck by the same feeling...I understand why maybe it wasn't brought up during the long-form narratives, but the quick-hitting stuff form the comedians and actors could have used some Ellen or Rosie...
