Sanfran should have been in the top 3

They sounded as good as any of the top three. Traces had a decent sound, but low as their "bass" chick could get, they were still lacking a good firm bottom that I just have to hear in a song. And their I'm Every Woman arrangement didn't do it for me, the fast part mainly. I liked the intro to it, but I just wasn't feeling the beat in the fast part and it just wasn't hittin' and and the harmonies didn't lock in, IMO. And I think I just didn't really like the Tina Turner song. I need to listen to the original, which I've never heard, and hear the ladies again. I didn't know that Ariana Grande song, either (and a couple months ago I didn't even know who Ariana Grande was), but I liked what they sang right off.

And that A Squared group performance sounded good, but they need to get off of The Sing-Off with that electronic stuff. The only thing electronic should be the mikes and minimal production/engineering stuff, IMO.

I agree completely. The first 3 performances were lackluster, and I thought it was a no-brainer that The Exchange, SanFran6, and The Melodores were going to make it to the second round.

Hell, even listening to the judges' comments, it seemed like they agreed. They listed a number of problems that Traces had, and praised SanFran6, but somehow the results didn't match up.

I was annoyed when Shawn was applauding them for their use of the machine, but then he at least pointed out its flaws.

Those guys were so proud of how much of a bigger sound they could make using the machine with only 5 people, but there have been groups on the show that were able to do even better just through their vocal skill alone.

They were beaming, with their "Steve Jobs of a cappella."  But yeah the purpose of the show is to demonstrate getting around not having big numbers to do neat things vocally. Either that or just going ahead and getting the big numbers to get the sound and volume and numbers you need for the harmonies you come up with.

I was on the fence with Sanfran and Traces. But I agree that Traces had some issues. Their bass was the best thing in my opinion. I found the lead singer more strident than Tina Turner-esque.

Their heart and attitude covered up more flaws. So I guess I agree with you that Sanfran should have gone through instead.

How do you feel about the winner? Agree or should it have been Exchange? I was on the fence there as well.

There's something here that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke it with a stick.-The Doctor

I think they were decent, but I can't even remember what they sang.  As far as memorability is concerned, Traces has them, and the other top-three group the name of which escapes me at the moment, beat in my mind, really. I just remember that their sound was a little tighter than Traces. I would really like to have heard another song from SanFran6. But you never know; some groups do well on one song they've refined and then they're ho-hum on the next.

SanFran6 should've gone with another song. Break Free is a terrible song, but an exceptional singer makes it ok. Unless you are Sunshine Corazon, it is not going to fly, unless you do something really different with it. Melodores brought it and kicked it up a notch. That's why they won.

Meh. Okay.

I thought that for raw vocal talent, A squared and The Exchange were heads and shoulders above the rest. But heart and performance count as well.

Lots of enthusiasm and talent in the winners, though I'm surprised they beat out the Exchange.

Judging is very murky in a show like this. Who knows who selected the winners of each round and why and how? Perhaps it doesn't matter. I'm happy to see a show like the Sing Off anywhere and anytime, and I don't really care who wins. In a longer season, it's nice when the truly talented groups stay for several episodes and the less-talented ones go home. But for a 1-night show, where each act sang either 1 song or 2, it's a showcase, and no real need for the competition portion.
