Sounds like a good movie

I love movies that don't involve 1st world problems like phones left on in movie theaters. India is such a beautiful country and to think this kind of thing (selling children into slavery) goes on every single day beggers belief.

One wonders if they will ever do away with the Caste system. I know Gandhi tried to scrap it and is still disliked to this day by many people from the Sudras and untouchables.

There is no hype about this movie so I hope this means that it is watchable in it's own right and media saturation is not needed to get as many bums on seats as possible.

I really don't understand why they always need to show the ugly side of India. First Slumdog Millionaire and now this movie.
I mean common guys. India is not that bad. We have some good things in us also.
Why can's they make some movies on Ambanis, Tatas, Birlas and other successful fellows in India.
I know they make these kind of movies just for the sake of pure business. But this mentality needs to be change now.
I hope someday I shall see one movie that will show bright side of India as well.

Every country has its bad side, every country has its good side. It would be dishonest not to show both sides.

reply

Yeah...but they consider movie making as pure business. They must understand that movies impact a viewer's thinking more then anything.

This movie was based on real life happenings of people being sold into slavery. They HAD to show the poor side of India.

~You sound like a country song. If you had a dog, he'd be run over by now.~

Ambani, Tata, Azim Premji and Subrato Roi are also for real. But they never show something like this. They only like to show slavery, poverty and other downsides of India.
And I don't have a dog. Sorry to disappoint you :P

I think last part is his signature.

Anyways I agree with you. On international level, India has not been portrayed in the best light in cinema.

Sadly, human trafficking is also a U.N. problem, as there are members of the U.n. forces that engaged in such trafficking, the same ones that were supposed to help the victims.
Read up on the Kathryn Bolkovac case and her court victory over her former employer. Her story was dramatized in the movie "The Whistleblower".
