This sounds terrible

I just read the premise and....no

I'm getting really sick and tired to seeing these teen supernatural romances. People are going to lose whatever little faith they have in YA book to film adaptations if Hollywood keeps picking up books like this. Why do teen girls fall for this??

Ugh.

It's not a good book either. Twilight sold more than that, is it a good book?

reply

Bella Swan has more personality than Lucinda Price. A friend let me borrow their copy, promising me that it was really good and I slogged through it, wondering when the 'really good' part was going to come.

reply

its a weak book, which has weak main characters. the teen girls will love it since it has many twilight elements but its nothing special.

reply

You honestly can't believe that the number of books sold = quality of the work.

There are so many top-selling books that are absolutely atrocious (i.e. Fifty Shades and Twilight, although imo Fifty Shades makes Twilight look like a Booker winner). If you enjoyed this book and want to see the movie, then fine. But I'm just sick and tired of Hollywood exploiting the same overused tropes to rake in money.

THANK YOU. I absolutely loved Fallen. Definitely one of the best YA books I've read in a while. Not many things were holding my interest, but a friend let me borrow Fallen and I devoured it. Still waiting to read the next one.

I used to want The Wicked Lovely series to be made into a movie, but now I hope it never becomes a movie - at least not until these kinds of movies stop being made.

And I am sure teen girls like these types of movies because of the love triangles and the overall romance that is portrayed in these kinds of movies.

reply

I'm sorry, but you read the book? No? So, please, don't make a comment like this. This story IS NOT ABOUT A LOVE TRIANGLE! And I really hope that this kind of synopsis changes, because just exists Luce and Daniel. Maybe she is undecided IN THE BEGGINING OF THE BOOK, just this. Don't judge if you don't even know what is about, please.

reply

I'm going to.

I'll tell you why.

Because its being made into a movie and guess what? Not everyone HAS to read the books to judge it. I said this in another thread for a different movie, its like saying that a movie script should be read by the masses before its out.

Also, it's hollywood. Their probably taking Fallen in another direction? Maybe?

reply

That's what people seem to forget.

A movie adaptation can be completely different from the book. Directions change, and chances are, they're going to focus on a love-triangle because that's the "big thing" now.

Even the synopsis says:
A lonely young woman finds herself courted by two competitive men -- fully unaware at first that they are angels who have vied for her love for centuries.

They're clearly not going with the books.

reply

Incorrect. In Fallen, Luce tries to find out who she really is. It's not a love triangle AT ALL. This is definitely better than Twilight.

reply

Excuse me, but you are somehow wrong. Yes, Lucinda “tries to find out who she really is”, but in the end she's not better than Bella. She still depends on a guy -Gregori- and, let's be honest, she's kind of stupid and annoying. And the love triangle is there (at least in the first book) even if Lauren Kate doesn't focus on it that much (because I guess that she decided Luce's true love from the begining, which is cool with me). Anyway, I guess that you're one of those people who like this book and think it's a great one; and I respect your opinion, so don't take my reply too personal.

reply

You are correct. The book was horrible. I didn't bother reading the next installments.

This will flop the same way Beautiful Creatures and City of Bones did.
