Brainwashing episode

Pretty interesting. I was surprised that people faked the restaurant scene only because I don't know why anyone would take off their clothes like that. The ice bath was amazing though.

Tbh i sort of feel everyone was faking it right to the end. I don't really believe in hypnotism.

I don't know if I don't believe in it or not. I was surprised by the amount of people faking it, but maybe someone of them were really under.

its all *beep* fake sadly. search for "Ivan the Terrible Santiago" here on imdb and you will find out that he is in fact an actor...

Good catch, what BS!

I'm just as cynical as anyone, but just because he's an actor doesn't mean it was all fake. There are accredited professionals attached to this show; if it were fake their colleges would shame them. If it was shot in Hollywood, getting a list of (probably already screened) people willing to be on TV would be a whole lot easier than signing up random people off the street. It means there are less anomalies and those they'd spend time on only to take them off because they fail their psych eval test.

Maybe we'll never know if it was fake or not, but there is certainly not full proof to show it was fake.

Hypnosis is a very real thing and almost anyone can be hypnotized. It's not some taboo, supernatural, unscientific thing, like tarot cards or whatever, it's actually scientifically proven. Go to a certified person that does them and find out for yourself.

It could be God, the Devil, Buddha, an Alien...or it could be a kid playing a video game. - onn1320

That's disappointing. I now have the same feeling that I had when I found out the truth to the Atlantis episode.

Before I believe any episode on brainwashing, I would first want to see an episode testing hypnotherapists. By that I mean, having a room of people, half of which are people that say ahead of time they don't believe in hypnosis and half of which are actors told to only pretend they are being hypnotised. Have three different accredited hypnotists work with the same group, do not tell them about the actors and then ask them who in the group they believe was truly hypnotised. Until then, I won't believe hypnosis is a real thing.

There have been many tests. Even unscientific ones are enough to see hypnosis is real, such as the many TV news and radio stations that bring in hypnotherapists. It always catches at least two people and these people are obviously not in on it.

There has already been plenty of research into this.

There are things that are incredibly difficult to fake consciously, like (genuine) tears of sorrow, focusing on something that doesn't exist (a positive hallucination, e.g. an invisible hand mirror), going white with fear. Have you heard of the stroop test? Hypnosis increases reaction times which is incredibly difficult to achieve with conscious willpower alone.

There's heaps and heaps of research. But you're not alone, most people don't believe in hypnosis because they simply don`t know enough about it.
