Dude, there HAS to be a sequel. Now this is one of the few movies where the heroes and heroines DONT prevail and dont save the day. Interesting premise - aboiut 2008 had this horrible dream that earth was getting clobbered by huge alien ships. They tried flying 747s into the alien craft, nukes, bombs, etc, and NOTHING worked! I woke from the dream pee'd off that it ended in humanity's defeat.
And then 2 yrs later Skyline came out almost with the same elements of my dream - creepy! Nothing that humanity could put up in Skyline worked, not even F-22 Raptors, rocket launchers, or nucular bombs!!! The da rn aliens just shrugged off the attacks as if they were spitwads. I was in the theater totally flipping out!!
Who knows - maybe skyline 2 might be the resistance movement finding a way to take down the alien scumbags with (the lead character's name) help. He was turned into a martian and his human form was destroyed but seemed to retain some human qualities.
Or maybe the movie mighy deal with the aliens' complete takeover of Earth - from THEIR point of view? That would be interesting; also their agenda might be explained in terms of stealing brains and spinal cords... Id go see it for sure.

it will be like war of the worlds, the Aliens will die from a virus.

Ok 2 questions.

1. WHY?! This film was utter garbage. It was a commerical failure and no film company would touch it.

2. What would the sequal even be about? The aliens won. The human race was consumed. Game over man! Game over!

Umm, in case you missed it, it cost 10 mil and grossed 80. That's 80 at the box office and does not include rentals and NetFlix and the admittedly relatively limited DVD sales. Point being it was far from a commercial failure.

As to the claim it's garbage, really? In a world of excellent movies and high standards, maybe. In our world of reality TV and stupid comedies? It's not a bad effort at all.

I want a sequel too. The Matrix was a great movie, took a few years and two sequels to have a complete ending to the storyline. This movie is in the same situation as District 9. Hero becomes alien, alien still loves significant other, some time is needed before everything ends ok for them. Bring on Skyline 2 and District 10 (or District 9 part 2).

reply

Underrated, this is actually a very fun flick. There is so much potential for a sequel.

For a TV movie it would be good, but it is still garbage.

1. The film was NOT utter garbage. 2. It was NOT a commercial failure. It made back three times its budget (U.S. and Internationally). 3. Jarrod's brain/consciousness is obviously alive inside the alien at the end of the movie which might suggest that this happened to more humans around the globe. If they are consciously aware of their 'new' surroundings, they could possibly take over each ship that they inhabit. I, too, want Skyline 2 so much!!!

While I didn't think much of the movie, it did gross between 8 and 9 times production budget (including dvd sales), so you would think the shirts would have already greenlighted a sequel.

Update: checking IMDB, it seems it's in the early stages of development.
