DOH - now THAT was a slam (Mel Gibson)

I cannot believe Ricky Gervais made that joke about Gibson. Holy cow!

HAhaha it was awesome.

Oh Christ I've left the iron on!

That took some guts. ! Maybe the Brits and Aussies are okay with drink jokes. LOL. Gibson took it very well.

I missed it. Is it the same part where he said Sandra Bullock's award was bought?

reply

He didn't say that. He implied that a Golden Globe award could be bought, but he didn't aim it at anyone in particular.

And he made a joke about Mel Gibson's drinking, which he took extremely well, just as Colin Farrel did.

reply

It would have been even funnier if Gervais gave the glass to Gibson and he drank it.

That was the best moment of the entire night! Gervais redeemed himself in that moment from an otherwise so-so hosting gig.

Never had a drink that I didn't like; Got a taste of you, threw up all night

Rorsach-
That's good to know.
It did seem Bullock took it that way. She responded to it that way a couple of times, but probably someone pointed it out to her by now.

I think considering the circumstances in the world right now, Gervais' routine might've put some people on the defensive. Agreed that Gibson handled it well.

"It did seem Bullock took it that way"

No it didn't, not in the slightest way. She was being facetious when she said those things. She was trying to sound humble by coming across as, "nobody had to buy this for me!" She was simply trying to be funny. In no way did Gervais even remotely suggest that he was talking about Bullock when he made that joke. He wasn't talking or hinting about ANYone in particular.

geez, some people can't recognize jokes if it hit them in the face.

Like I said, that's good that it isn't what he meant and Yes, She was trying to joke about it. You may've missed what I'm specifically referring to or viewed it in a different way. Sorry, but you're kind of assuming that you know all and see all and only your opinion on something is correct. You seemed to have missed the point of my original post, for example, so maybe not.
