How seriously does Hollywood take itself!

Gervais is soooo funny, but I think the audience may kill him by the end of the night. As funny as he is, I wonder did the producers ever see "Extras"? His stabs at the Hollywood community are incredibly fuuny and on target, but I don't think they appreciate being the butt of his jokes.

^ Agreed! I think he was right about the whole 'not doing this again.'

I'm sure you aren't asked to host unless they know your act.

This audience tends to like "insiders" to host, much like the Academy Awards group. That's why Jon Stewart didn't do as well hosting the Oscars. Not a group that always appreciates that sense of humor.

I think the other poster is right about the earthquake impacting the response from the audience. But if I have to hear about another actor/actress donating to, or arranging a charity event, I'm going to puke.

"Alec Baldwin can't be here tonight due to a schedule conflict with a charity event he's attending."

The ribbons they're wearing show the world they are aware of the terrible human disaster unfolding in Haiti. They don't need to shout "See - we're donating."

Good to see some self important egos pricked and the fact so many of these stars take themselves so seriously makes some of the awkward moments deliciously funny

At least he has some friends in hollywood, just look at some ofthe guest stars on his "Extras" show, and there's a healthy irreverence in many of Hollywood's comedy clique at the moment, it just means he's probably fecked his chances of ever winning an award again!!!
