Ridiculous premise, but funny movie

As many others have pointed out, the plot of this movie was just way too outlandish. He meets some model-like 23 year old, they have sex on the first night, then he makes up a fake marriage with kids to keep her around? And he was seriously about to kill them off in an accident, and stay married to her forever after that. What was he planning to do, just fake grief for a few years? And what was going to happen when Palmer ended up seeing Katherine and the kids, as they would inevitably run into each other at some point?

That being said, I love this movie, and will watch it again and again.

I think he just wanted to bang her for a few more months like Jennifer Aniston said in the movie. He thought he was in love with Brooklyn but he didn't know what love really was.

I thought the same as you at first though. It was not well planned whatever his motivation was.
