Morgan Freeman? Really?

I mean, am I the only one who wonders, what the hell is he doing in this flick ?

Playing the role that in reality was filled by a whole team of scientists?

Personally I think his characters made the movie less realistic. His character is too cartoonish. A black guy in the 21 century who dresses like Jerry Lewis in "The nutty Professor"? Wearing a bow tie outdoors in Florida?

I was also bothered by the first tail he builds. It's obviously done from a piece of a plastic trash bin, which is evident by the "recycle" logo carved on it. Really? I have worked in a prosthesis shop and I can't believe he didn't have a more appropriated piece of surplus plastic around.

And even if he only had a recycle bin available... from the entire thing he has to pick the piece with the logo?

I guess the "recycle" thing was intentionally used by the filmmakers as an environmental message, which would be one of the most ham-fisted attempt at subtlety in the history of Hollywood.

Perhaps they cast him because he's an Academy Award winning actor, who would be the biggest name in the movie. The production might've even gotten more money for the budget because he was in it.

Sister, when I've raised hell, you'll know it!

Gotcha. It's been eighteen years, sorry.

Well, I was under the impression that it was loosely based on "actual events," not "facts," hence the casting of Morgan Freeman, who plays a character who is actually an amalgamation of a few people who developed the prosthetic.

or, do you mean 19 years??

Well, if memory serves, Shawshank came out in 1994, which is eighteen years ago by my count.

What the hell does this post have to do with anything?

For one thing, any money is good money! He was a perfect fit for the part. A kindly ole dude helping a dolphin for free! Great for his image!

Considering how many movies he appear in each year, I think he accepts literally any offer. Luckily, he appears in at least a good movie each year.
