Why didn't they show the punch?

Most TV programmes these days love a bit of violence, yet I was really willing this smug wank-er to get punched, and although he did get taken out, they didn't show it. Not having ever seen the original, when he got up from the table and went into the kitchen I was hoping he was going to take a nice big knife out of the draw and go to work on him.

I think they didn't show it because the narrative jump worked better stylistically - we went from Peter barely holding in his fury but calm to furious and unrelenting. I thought it would have felt a little (more) like an episode of "Dynasty" if they kept in the initial punching and screaming. We're left to hear about the fight from other people's point of view, like Cassie in the next scene. In the interest of fluidity and maintaining the style they'd built up to that point, it worked better not to show it. (Although I would have hit him too. I thought that Gavin was a really insufferable "jumped up little prick" as Manson put it too.

I should've known way back when. Know why? Because of the kids. They called me Mr. Glass.
