Was anyone else impressed with the aging of the characters?

To me, it felt like you didn't really realise how much older they looked until the very end when it shows the flashbacks again, and you get a direct comparison. I like that they made it very distinct that the characters were changing year after year, but the actual aging was subtle enough to be really realistic.

If that makes sense. Just wanted to know if I'm the only one. :)

Yes, I felt the same. I managed to be pretty watchful as the film progressed, so I kept marveling at this subtle ageing you're talking about throughout the film. It seemed more marked for Anne Hathaway's character, perhaps because of how she gains confidence as she gets older. It's clearer, somehow. But the ageing of Dexter caught me off guard in the end. The comparison was striking. Beautifully done, I think. Wonder how they went about it...So no, you're not the only one! :)

I'm thinking, make-up, hair styling, clothing, etc. All the things that go into creating the characters, the time, place & events in which the story is set.

All these things are listed in the credits of the film.

Yeah, I didn't realize it either until they flashed back to 1988 and Jim Sturgess sat up in Emma's bed. I was like, "Wow, he looks so young!" So, they did a great job in that regard.

i agree. you really don't notice the contrast so much until they show the flashback.

I didn't think they aged enough..nor really changed. Not like some people I know.
