Alot like love is the better movie imo

I know they arent related but they pretty much have the same themes of They meet, They like each other but nothing serious, they run into each other every couple years with a fling, they realise they like the other alot but the other has moved on, they dwell about changing their plans, they continue the same dance till the very end

thought it moved alot better than this

A Lot Like Love is a romcom - a straight forward 'does what it say on the tin' film. Not sure what this was but I doubt I'll watch it again.

I really like A Lot Like Love and I think Amanda Peet and Ashton Kutcher are very cute together in the film. You definitely want them to end up together.

The trouble with One Day is that Dex character is just not very likeable - yes, he is attractive and charming but ultimately I feel like he didn't deserve Emma. I haven't read the book, so maybe he is better in that but he's pretty selfish and self absorbed in the film.

He starts out pretty selfish and self-absorbed, but he gets better. He has a lot of character growth.

Even though he has grown by the end, I felt like at the point where they get together, he is still taking Emma for granted - we see him take responsibility with the baby but he doesn't give much to Emma

Can you give any examples of what you mean? I don't recall thinking that he seemed to be taking Emma for granted when they got together. But it's important to note that his character development doesn't end when he finally gets together with Emma. He continues to grow.
