Has anyone actually lost any weight from eating Jaime's food?


That one girl seemed just as fat as she was before. It doesn't seem like she's lost any weight.

they didn't film her for years on end, how would anyone notice that she lost 5 pounds or so?

It takes time for someone to lose weight unless he or she has a personal trainer for several hours per week. That is why contestants are able to lose more than 2% of their total body weight for several weeks; they have Jillian, Bob, on-site physicians, and others to guide their workouts as well as taking care of their dietary and medical needs. In the real world people don't have such access to personal trainers or physicians. As a result people are only able to safely lose 3 pounds per week max.

For example, if someone needs to lose 100 lbs of fat it will take at least 34 weeks, 2 years at the most.

The key to losing fat is physics, not food.

The only way to do it is to figure out the calorie amount you need to maintain your weight (there's easy online calculators), then you subtract 500 to a 1000 calories from that amount and you will instantly begin losing weight. You must count calories and that's easier than ever with labels and the internet. You can type in any food or product and find the calorie count.

Now, with this plan, you can eat sticks of butter and donuts and lose weight, if you keep your calories to the correct amount. I know people who got into bodybuilder single digit fat level on an all junkfood diet, but they were eating like 800 to a 1000 calories per day. That is not nutrition---it's fat loss.

The good thing is that large amounts of vegetables, soups, chicken, fish have very few calories,and you can eat like a king, with little impact. Once you get a sense of the calories food has, then you can mentally calorie count and so you have less work.

You can also treat yourself! I eat 2000k a day and I work out a lot. Anyway, I live in PA and they just passed laws that fast food places must post calories. I wanted Wendy's and had eaten a little less than a 1000 that day. I saw that the TRIPLE CLASSIC COMBO MEAL only had a 1000 cals, and I was getting a diet soda, so that was about 800k for the meal. So, I ate frequently and lightly for the day and treated myself to the Wendy's and came in under the daily requirements. Meanwhile, had the labels not been there I'd have assumed that said combo was like 2000k by itself, so knowing what's up with the calories can help you plan smartly.

If you don't want to, you don't even have to exercise on this kind of eating plan. However, I strongly recommend it because building you muscles has several benefits. The first is to prevent muscle wasting as you get older and the second is to feel vital. Basically, if you can defy gravity, you will feel its effect less. In other words, a stronger person feels lighter on their feet and is much less tired than a weaker skinny or fat person.

Working out:

You do not need to hire someone to teach you to workout. You can buy a book or get tons of free info on a site like bodybuilding.com. Also, buying a Polar Heart monitor and reading about it, is a great way to workout, as your heart rate dictates much about weight loss. Weight lifting is fairly easy---you lift things or pull thing, and bend down. A moron can figure that out.

I recommend reading about HIT (High Intensity Training). It builds muscle excellently, and is done once or twice a week, for about an hour.

Well, typing that huge response wasn't really necessary, but you admit that this entire show is pointless since he's not actually helping people to become healthier.

Since people do not have access to the many things as the contestants on The Biggest Loser it not reasonable to lose no more than 2 pounds per week. In order to lose one pound one must have a deficit of 3500 calories. If someone's BMR is around 3500 calories one must consume 1500 calories per day in order to lose 4 pounds per week. If someone consumes too few calories his or her body goes into what is called starvation mode. This will hinder fat loss efforts. Even maintaining a steady caloric intake will not be as good as the body does adjust. This is why experts are now calling for what is known as a cheat day. This allows for the body to keep guessing. Eating too few calories also is a problem as one may not get enough nutrients such as protein, vitamins, or minerals which will not only hinder weight loss efforts, but may also cause an electrolyte imbalance, ineffective immune system, and many health problems.

Those on the biggest loser have access to:
1. Dietitians to make sure they get their proper nutrients.
2. Physicians that are on call in the event of injury
3. Trainers such as Bob and Jillian to guide their physical activities.

Jamie was showing one way others could be healthier. One thing Jamie didn’t do was expect people to lose a lot of fat overnight. As far as the original post fat loss is not visible until quite a bit of fat is lost.

Being healthy and being thin is not the same thing.

You can get thin by reducing your calorie intake to 1000 calories per day but if you cover those with and "all fat" diet without enough vitamins, micronutrients and proteins you'll destroy your liver, your kidneys, the major part of your digestive tract, your immune system and god knows what else.

What Jamie did was teach people to eat balanced meals with enough fiber, vitamins and a good balance of micro and macro nutrients. That they should not eat themselves to death with that stuff goes without saying.

I think humanity should be wiped out and then we can give evolution a second chance.

You've confused getting thinner with getting healthier.

In fact, a lot of effective diets are actually -very- unhealthy. I remember reading a study that suggested that people who are over-weight (not obese) tend to live longer than people who used to be overweight but lost weight. The problem isn't actually losing weight of course... it's the sort of crash-dieting that's quite common.

If you want to be healthier then it's about eating healthy foods and getting some exercise every day. It doesn't have to be enough to make you lose lots of weight but it'll still make you healthier even though it won't necessarily make you thinner.

My point was it is not realistic to lose fat at the same rate as those on the Biggest Loser. Although one can do high intensity training for two hours per week those on the Biggest Loser do more high intensity training per week, especially during last chance workout.

BTW, I never said someone needs to hire someone just to simply lose weight. The trainers Bob and Jillian on the Biggest Loser are there to guide the physical activities for contestants to lose a much higher percentage of weight than what is normal for people in the real world. What I can see is that you are reading something out of my posts that I am not writing.

Again, those on the Biggest Loser workout for several hours per day, every day of the week. That is how they lose so much weight. That is why it is unreasonable and possibly unsafe to lose more than ten pounds of weight per week rather than one or two pounds per week.

It used to be popular conception that the human body is simple engine. I.e, calories in - calories out. But the human body is much more complex then that. I suggest you get Gary Taubes' book "Good Calories, Bad Calories" to understand the complexities.
