People need to quit eating fast food

After watching tonight's episode of "Food Revolution," it just makes me mad to see that the head guy told Jamie Oliver that he is not allowed to set foot at any school in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Those students at the high school that Jamie Oliver was at clearly need help. After hearing the stories of the two people with diabetes in the history class and after seeing the students in that class crying from hearing the stories from the two people with diabetes, it's clear that those students want help.

At the beginning of this year, I went to my doctor and my doctor told me that I have high cholesterol and I could have a heart attack within the next ten years if I don't do something about it; my doctor also told me that I was twenty pounds overweight at 245 pounds. I was just like the majority of the americans in the United States. When I was younger, I would, with my mom and my sister (and sometimes my dad), would eat fast food, McDonalds and Taco Bell mostly. Sometimes the family would eat Kentucky Fried Chicken, Round Table Pizza, Pizza Hut, Papa Murphy's, Burger King and Skipper's. Now that I am old enough to make my own decisions on what I eat, I don't eat fast food anymore except for Subway, if you can call Subway fast food. I really enjoy cooking my own food and don't mind it at all. Cooking your own food is easier then people think and cooking your own food will give people the satisfaction of having cooked your own food.

The reason I am telling you this, the people who are reading this post, is that I am 28 1/2 years old and am coming to the realization that fast food is really not good for you. After watching Jamie Oliver on "Food Revolution" explain what the meat that goes into a fast food burger comes from and the fact that the meat has ammonia poured all over it to kill the bacteria, made me so sick that I refuse to eat fast food ever again. It's been a little over six months and I have managed to lose thirty pounds and hope to lose another thirty pounds so that instead of weighing 245 pounds, I will weigh 180 pounds. My cholesterol has gone down but needs to come down more. My doctor put me on a cholesterol pill that I take every day before I go to bed for the night.

If people come to the realization what fast food companies put into their food is unhealthy and quit eating fast food, just maybe the fast food companies will change their menus and serve only healthy food. It would be cool if every american in the United States did just that and boycotted fast food companies and caused the fast food companies to lose money.

Lets all do that, please?

Sounds like being an MMA fighter junked up on steroids makes you a douchebag.

Be happy for someone who stopped eating unhealthy and is now losing weight. Why criticize someone for making a positive impact on their life?

I've never been overweight, but I've also never been so ignorant to other people's lives that I come on IMDB and post delusional messages.

Mad props to the OP and I'm personally thrilled that 1) you're making such a big difference in your own life and that 2) you're happy to see Jamie making such a big difference in other people's lives.

The way we eat changes the way we live, for sure. Eating healthy is always a better choice, and maybe if MMA fighters ate better food they'd be winning MMA fights rather than posting on IMDB. Just a thought..

As a New Year's Resolution, I give up something every year for the whole year. This year it was fast food. I had been dieting with my friend since September, so it just seemed like the natural choice anyway, but also I find myself ordering WAY too much food every time I go to a fast food restaurant. Everything looks and sounds good, so I order too much, then I eat too much, and I end up so full I am in pain, and I still have food left over that I have to throw away. It's sickening. So I gave up fast food for a year. I'm here to tell you - I hardly miss it. Every so often, something fast food sounds good. But I shrug it off, and in a few seconds, the craving is gone. I am a food addict, and it hasn't been hard at all. If people would just try, I bet they'd do better than they think they will....

Fast Food isnt all THAT bad for you, its ok if you eat it maybe once or twice a week, just not all the time like I USED TO. My favorite dinner used to be Popeyes Chicken or a McDonalds Quarter Pounder and I used to be 260-something.
I eat mostly lean protein and veggies with everything now and I eat fast food only ONCE a week. And now im like 180
